Morning Surf

I decided to use that paper without the sizing again that I used for "The Squadron" a couple of weeks ago.  I enjoyed painting on this surface just as much as the last time.  It gives a fuzzy look to the painting that I like but it looks fuzzier in this photo than it does in person.  I still have some small pieces of this paper so I think I'll try painting a still life to see how the effect is with a different subject.  Even though painting waves is really fun, it will be nice to see if this softness translate well when painting something else.

  1. This is so beautiful and soothing and refreshing... I love those waves you create! Let me know how you like Photoshop, I have never purchased a program like that, but I should probably get one. If you like photoshop elements, let us know!

  2. Hmmm, paper with no sizing. Maybe painting a subject like cat or something furry would work well with the fuzzy look from the paper?

  3. Thank you Katherine. I love photoshop. I'm more familiar with the full Creative Suite version (which is expensive because it includes a lot of other programs as well as a photoshop that has all of the bells and whistles) but I also have the photoshop elements on our newer computer since my old CS 2 photoshop was too old to translate to the new computer and I wasn't willing to spend so much money for the full CS program since I use such a small portion of it. I'm sure I will learn to love photoshop elements as I get used to it but it's hard for me to embrace new technology. I like the way the old photoshop worked but I know it's just a matter of taking the time to learn the new software.

Hi Kathleen. I think you have a good idea but I'm not sure I could do justice to the poor furry creatures. It's worth a try though.....

  4. I do so love the paintings of the waves, Nancy. I have a strong pull towards water, for some reason. It soothes and mesmerizes...

  5. Yes Sherry, water is very soothing and re-energizing. I could sit and watch waves for hours.

  6. Love your waves! I'm a Photoshop lover also. If you find you are still wanting the full-blown version, I suggest searching on Amazon. You can buy either used (& new) through them.

  9. I love the motion and energy of the waves, and also the softness of the texture and colors. Beautiful work as always!
