Lake Powell Encaustic

Encaustic

I painted a small encaustic this week.  Lake Powell is a favorite subject of mine to paint.  I love the rusty colors of the canyons against the blues of the sky and water.  This beautiful lake has my favorite complementary color combination - blue/orange - occurring naturally  in the dramatic canyons.

  5. Agree this is a great color scheme. Nothing like the West landscape and colors, especially for us Easterners. I like the texture this technique gives.
Got the stuff for frMing, am going to,give it a shot and will let you know.

  6. I also love the texture that can be achieved with encaustics. I will be waiting to hear about the outcome of the framing experiment.
