Dreamscape

Dreamscape
Image Size 14" x 11"
Encaustic

One of the things that I love about painting with wax is the dreamy feeling that can be achieved by melting the pigments.  This started out as an abstract but as I worked on it, I began to see a hill with trees on a foggy morning.  I am really happy this one!

White encaustic pigment is one of my favorite colors to work with because it is totally opaque and tends to break apart in a unique way when heated.  I think you can probably see the difference in the white around the edges (the white of the ground support) and the white in the middle of the painting which is the white encaustic.

  3. I do like this and can clearly see your images. Does this have depth, or kind of impasto texture or does it slim down to like regular paint? Keep these coming because they are super.

    1. Encaustics can be very textural but I prefer for mine to have a smoother surface so that I can buff the wax and get it to shine. It makes them look like a glazed tile.

  4. I don't understand the process, but it's beautiful! When I was hiking in Utah, we went around the side of this mountain where there was beautiful wild flowers growing right out of the mountain that reminded me of this painting... Gorgeous piece! You do such wonderful work with Encaustic..more..more..!!

  6. Bonjour chère amie,

Une très joli paysage qui nous conduit dans un monde où les petites elfes seraient très certainement heureuses de vivre... J'aime toutes ces belles nuances de couleurs.

    Gros bisous
