I forgot to let you all know that both of the silk paintings in the last two posts were juried into the Chemers Gallery show and they will be there through May 29th. They didn't win any awards but at least they were juried into the show.
This painting was done quickly and I was trying for "loose". It's definitely looser than most of my paintings and it was really fun to do.
Congrats on getting juried into the show, Nancy! I so love this watercolor. I am sitting here trying to figure out just how you did those tree trunk reflections! Gorgeous colors too.
Thanks Sherry. I painted this entire painting while the paper was wet. That's a very different way to work for me but it was a lot of fun and it has a really soft look. I used waterford 200# hot press paper for the first time and I like it. It wasn't quite as easy to lift paint from it as I had expected ( their 200# cold press is incredible for that) but I still liked the paper, which is good because I have about 15 sheets of it.
Thanks Kimmie. I will be doing more of these looser paintings because I'm taking a weekly workshop from a teacher whose style is REALLY loose. I will be retraining my brain to see things differently since I am such a black and white, literal person but it should be fun.
Nancy - this is lovely. I also like the loose style that you've achieved. Those reflections are perfect! That class sounds like a lot of fun, and a great chance to work with the loose style even more!
I work in just about every art medium I can get my hands on with my favorites being watercolor and silk painting. I love to experiment with different mediums and styles of painting. I try to paint every day and will post my paintings here as I finish them. I really appreciate any comments you may have on the paintings.
