Twenty years ago, we went to Puerto Vallarta and I took this photo at the hotel where we stayed. I've painted it several times using either watercolor or gouache but this is the first time I've used oils. I need some new inspiration for paintings if I'm digging up twenty year old photos, don't you think?

Gorgeous painting, Nancy!! Beautiful colors.
I think this is just stunning, Nancy. Even the thumbnail immediately captured my interest. If you find inspiration can you send some to me? I am so lacking of late it isn't even funny.
ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder how much this scene has changed during this time. It's a lovely spot and your painting makes me want to go there, but perhaps I'd have to step back in time...
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilda.
ReplyDeleteMerci Martinealison. J'aimerais visiter ce lieu nouveau, mais je ne me souviens pas le nom de l'hôtel où cela a été pris.
Thanks Sherry. I'll send any extra inspiration your way.
Susan, I hope this still looks the same. I imagine it does since it isn't an area that can be built on and it looks like it would stand up to the occasional hurricanes that hit the area.
Looks like a beautiful place. Nice painting.
ReplyDeleteNancy I admire your versatility in multiple media. Nothing wrong in using a well-worn reference pic if it continues to speak to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Deborah. You're right about reference photos. This one has always been one of my favorites but I think it's time to retire it.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful Nancy, beautiful work!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Theresa. I enjoy working in oils for a change.
