Enjoyed seeing this one again. I love the red guy in the upper right with his mouth open.
ReplyDeleteOh my, Nancy! Since I hadn't found your blog until fairly recently, I hadn't seen this. It is beautiful!! It looks like there is real water dots on this piece too! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDeborah, he does have an attitude, doesn't he.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry. Water spots are fun to do.
Thanks for your comment on my blog. Your work is very good. This piece is interesting and vibrant; I bet it isn't easy to paint on rice paper. Your silk paintings are lovely, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michelle. Actually, painting on the rice paper is really fun.
ReplyDeleteI like that bubbly look! Do you stick this to something, watercolor board maybe?
ReplyDeleteNick, I attached the rice paper to a piece of 140# Arches cold press paper. This particular rice paper had such a nice random texture that had some of the holes in it that I used as water bubbles. I had drawn in some bubbles in the initial design and it wasn't until the painting was almost finished that I saw the 'bubbles' that the holes in the rice paper created. Then I painted around those to create more bubbles. I don't think I've ever used the word 'bubbles' so much in my entire life as I've used it in this paragraph. Forgive me my repetitive writing but I couldn't think of any other way to say it.
ReplyDeleteLove the bubbles. and the funny little fish. Maybe.....yes. well. no. fine then.
