Rice Paper Koi Again

I know, I know, you've already seen this painting. I received a request by e-mail asking if this painting is still available so I'm re-posting it to show that yes, it is still for sale.

  4. Thanks for your comment on my blog. Your work is very good. This piece is interesting and vibrant; I bet it isn't easy to paint on rice paper. Your silk paintings are lovely, too.

  7. Nick, I attached the rice paper to a piece of 140# Arches cold press paper. This particular rice paper had such a nice random texture that had some of the holes in it that I used as water bubbles. I had drawn in some bubbles in the initial design and it wasn't until the painting was almost finished that I saw the 'bubbles' that the holes in the rice paper created. Then I painted around those to create more bubbles. I don't think I've ever used the word 'bubbles' so much in my entire life as I've used it in this paragraph. Forgive me my repetitive writing but I couldn't think of any other way to say it.
