I just got back from a 4 day Sally Strand pastel workshop in Fallbrook. This is one of the paintings we worked on. There was a live model posing for this. I've only drawn people a few times and definitely don't feel comfortable with that subject matter but I did enjoy working on this. It's not finished but it's getting close. We ran out of time and the models were done for the day and nobody was finished. Oh well, I guess I'll have to guess what the rest of it should look like.
Sally Strand is an incredible pastel artist and she's also a wonderful instructor. I can't wait to put everything I learned into practice.

Great job, Nancy, I really love the composition and the expression on her face. The lighting on the robe is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful!! I love the both retro and quirky feel to this piece, Nancy. You did a wonderful job with the light too. Even I rarely iron any more. I used to iron my jeans even. Now? Only if I need to for something special, otherwise? Wash, dry, hang/fold, and wear.
ReplyDeleteThanks Theresa.
ReplyDeleteHa ha Sherry. Who would have thought that ironing would be called "retro". I like that idea.
Love the way you painted the towel on her head...and the light hitting her..nicely done, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilda.
ReplyDeleteNice color and composition.
ReplyDeleteFigures aren't my thing either - I know how you feel! I think you did great with the light on her robe and towel.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen and Deborah.
