I really dislike orange flowers so I'm not sure why I didn't change the color of these in this painting. I still need to work on these a bit because I'm not sure that they are reading as abutilons, but the paint is too wet to get much detail at this point. I won't add much more detail but I do want to add some to the one flower at the top that is facing us to make it more of a focal point.

I've not heard of this flower, but it sure is pretty Nancy. I love how you've got that bit of dreamier background to the left too. I think this is just truly a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry. These are really pretty flowers that are so delicate looking, they almost look like paper. I haven't captured that feeling here but maybe I'll try to paint them again in watercolor. I might have an easier time portraying them in that medium. Of course, I will have to change the color.... : )
ReplyDeleteI love this painting, Nancy! I love orange flowers and you painted these perfectly. I hope you post it again if you decide to tweak it....
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of this pretty flower. You've done a beautiful job with the oranges and the blue tones in the background. Very nicely done, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilda. If I tweak it, the tweaks will be minimal in just a few areas but I might re-post it if it looks significantly different.
ReplyDeleteThank you Maria. I'm not sure in how many parts of the country these flowers can grow, but I do know that even within my yard, there are some places they like and others in which they refuse to grow. They are a bit fussy but if they find their happy place, they are beautiful!
