Breaker

"Breaker"
Image size 24" x 48"
Acrylic

I decided to paint a wave using acrylic this time.  I have so much acrylic paint that I have collected over the years, so I might as well use it.  I also had this large canvas in my stash of art supplies.  It feels good to use some of the supplies that I have around here.  I probably have enough to last me several lifetimes.  That just means that I need to paint a lot more.

Low Country

"Low Country"
Image Size 6" x 6"
Water miscible oils
It feels good to paint a palette knife painting again.  It's been a while since I've used that tool.  I painted the panel with bright orange/red acrylic before I painted with the oils because I wanted the bright bits of color to peek through the more subdued landscape.

Wind and Rain

"Wind and Rain"
Image size 6.5" x 7.5"
Acrylic
I painted this on a piece of Tyvek.  That is the material that some envelopes are made of that is white with a plastic feel.  I tried painting watercolor over it once and didn't like it.  It isn't absorbent at all, which is fine when I use acrylic.  I don't like using watercolor on non-absorbent surfaces as much because it is hard to layer and add darks without the previous layers lifting.  If I didn't paint using layers, it would be fine.  This Tyvek has a wonderful textural quality with wrinkles and other textures.  I would definitely try it again.

What can I say?  Just another wave painting to celebrate the beautiful, warm weather we have been enjoying!

Golden Koi

"Golden Koi"
Image size 15" x 22"
Watercolor, collage

I'm playing around painting koi once again.  They have always been one of my favorite painting subjects.    I attached rice paper before I started painting so that there would be some interesting texture added to the painting.
