Yellow Silk Rose

This is another silk painting. I'm enjoying using this medium again so you will probably see a lot of them in the coming weeks.

Silk Birds - Silk Painting

Finally, another silk painting. I haven't done one for several months and I've really missed working in this medium. I've always loved the colors and shapes of Bird of Paradise but have never painted them. I thought that silk would be the perfect medium for re-creating them.

Pears II

I did another one day workshop a couple of weeks ago and this shows the influence of my teacher whose method I love. I was never motivated to do any type of still life before but now I really like them.

coconut cluster

This is the second ACEO that I've done. I had so much fun joining ebay and doing my first posting that I decided to do it again.

Rose Trio

I did the drawing for this painting about a year ago and since I'm trying to finish unfinished projects, I finally painted it.

Succulent 1

Nothing like going from one extreme to another. Last week's painting was 4 feet by 8 feet. This one is 2.5" x 3.5". It is an ACEO which stands for artist's cards, editions and originals. These are artists trading cards which are a good way to collect different artists original works in a small, inexpensive way. I did this one while I was sitting by the pool in Mexico. You can't get much more relaxed than that. It is done with colored pencils on a smooth bristol board

Tuscan Landscape

This isn't a typical weekly painting since it took over a month to paint but I wanted to post it for this week's painting since I just got it hung. It is 23 canvases painted to hang together in an abstract collage. It was fun to paint but also a challenge because I used acrylics (which I haven't used since high school) so they would dry quickly and I could get it to Mexico. The original reason I used a series of small canvases was because it was a good way to get a large painting to Mexico on the plane. It fit neatly into our luggage. The largest canvas is 10" x 20" but the overall painting is about 4' x 8'.

Wisteria

I'm leaving for Mexico tomorrow for a week so I am posting this early. I didn't want to miss a week. I've been painting a large project that I'm taking to Mexico and finally finished it so I only had time to do a quick watercolor sketch for this week's painting.

aeonium

Now I'm back to nature. I love succulents and wanted to try painting this aeonium. I love the colors. This is my red/green complementary color palette.
