Workshop project
I finished the two day pastel workshop today and here is my finished project. There were about 15 of us in Dianna Ponting's class and we all worked from a photo of this still life which was taken by Dianna. It was really a lot of fun and I learned so much. She is an incredible artist and teacher. Check out her website. Her work is very photo realistic and is even more beautiful in real life.

Beautiful work here, Nancy! And why am I suddenly craving a candied apple? Maybe those delightfully shiny reds!

ReplyDeleteI love it! Fabulous! Thanks for the heads up re Dianna Ponting's
ReplyDeletesite and work! How wonderful you could take that workshop and trust you are really proud of this piece!
Sherry, I don't think I've ever used so much red! A candied apple does sound good. I don't know whether to thank you or curse you for putting that thought into my head.
ReplyDeleteThank you Robin. It was fun to do some photo realism.
I am proud of this Rosemary. It was a really fun project.
Wow! I love the cookie cutter in it, kind of unexpected and done perfectly!
ReplyDeleteDianna Ponting is a past president of the Federation of Canadian Artists of which I am a member. She is amazing and so is this pastel of yours......PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa. When I first saw the cookie cutter in the photo, I was afraid to tackle it but by looking just at colors and not the object, it just sort of came together.
ReplyDeleteAlvin, I can see why Dianna was president. She is an amazing artist and really nice person. Thank you for your kind comments.
I haven't dropped by for a long while but so glad i did!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing still life. Absolutely beautiful and so delicate. I concur with others and now have a craving for an apple. Well done.
Thanks Ross. At least craving an apple is healthy. Maybe I should do more still lifes with fruit.
ReplyDeleteWow that is fantastic! If I could achieve that with pastel I would do more :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Krista, I can't wait to try another still life with a photo realistic feel in pastel.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that I got to see this one in person. It's a show-stopper!!
