Here is another painting done on TerraSkin. I drew this a long time ago on both TerraSkin and regular watercolor paper because I wanted to see how I could change the technique on the different supports. They will probably end up looking very similar but I'm hoping to do the next one in a very loose, watery style with white and yellow flowers. We'll see if I can manage to let go of my controlling nature and let the paint do what it wants to do. Obviously, I didn't let loose on this one. : )

I think it is beautiful and the background is loose. A success no matter!

DeleteI so like the textures you getting and makes the velvety flowers pop by comparison. Looking forward to seeing the no tone. If you figure out how to go loose, share the secret please.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nelvia.
DeleteThe textured background is brilliant, make the blossoms appear even more delicate and vibrant. What is Terraskin?
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura. TerraSkin is a 'paper' made from 80% stone dust and 20% non-toxic resin. It is similar to Yupo but I like it so much better. It is waterproof so the paint sits on the surface as it does with Yupo but it has a softer surface; not quite as plastic feeling. Also, fingerprints aren't as much of an issue and if you do have places where the paint is being repelled because of fingerprints, just a couple of swishes of your paintbrush usually fixes the problem. It is a very liftable surface but it's possible to get softer edges than with Yupo. Can you tell that I love this surface?
DeleteGorgeous flowers, delicate and yet powerful contrast. I never heard of TerraSkin. I wonder if we can it in Europe. It sounds much better than Yupo. Have a nice week :-)
