There's nothing like waiting til the last minute to do something. Procrastinating is one of the things I do best so this makes sense. This month's virtual paintout location is New Zealand and I did look around through Google Street Maps at the beginning of June but didn't take the time to pick any spots to paint even though I thought it was such a beautiful country. So today, with one day to go before the deadline, I decided to paint something.
When I first looked around I found a lot of scenes with fog that were really cool but of course I couldn't find them today so I picked this pretty spot. This was done with a palette knife.
I can't wait to see where we will be virtually traveling next month.

I always love palette knife work. I find it difficult, so I enjoy seeing what others can create with it! This is a pretty little scene and your knife work complements it. And don't worry about waiting on the VP search, we all do it. Sometimes I drop that little man so many times, finding nothing, that I give up. Then I have to scramble at the end of the month also!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Nancy! You've got gorgeous color in that water and the pines are perfect! I've seen Christmas trees just like these. I wish I could do the Virtual PaintOut, but alas, I don't have a program that allows me to set the resolution per BG's requirements. He sent me a few emails that were testy about having to fix my submissions so I just quit doing them. I still love the concept though and still visit the site to see what everyone else is doing! In fact, that is how I've found so many artists that I follow...well, that one and Karen Jurick's challenge.
ReplyDeleteNancie, I noticed you've done 2 for this month. I'm envious. My goal was to do 3 each month and usually I'm lucky if I get one done. I think it's a wonderful challenge and I enjoy looking at what scenes other artists find.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry. I'm sorry that you can't participate in the paintout and have them posted on his blog. Maybe you can change the setting in your camera so that the file isn't large and that would solve the problem. If not, you could still do the paintings and post them on your blog and all of us that follow you will get to enjoy them.
I went swimming once at Glendhu Bay. I was there one November and it was hotter than it should have been, so we went swimming. It was just idyllic in the little beach with the mountains in the background.
ReplyDeleteThis is very beautiful Nancy! Gorgeous colors create such a perfect atmosphere! Love this!
ReplyDeleteNew Zealand looks like such a beautiful country. I hope to actually visit it someday.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mikko.
