Here is the last of the silk paintings that I had started to use when I did the demo at Chemers Gallery back in April. I painted a silk painting using these sunflowers several years ago but used a different background and border. I like my first one better. I meant for the blue border in this to be much darker and it is darker than it looks in this picture but not as dark as I wanted. I just wasn't paying attention I guess.
Anyway, now I'll get back to my more serious paintings. I have a few drawing done for some watercolor paintings so I'm excited to work on them. I've gotten silk painting out of my system for now.
Here is the original sunflower silk painting which sold several years ago.

Les deux me plaisent beaucoup vous savez...
ReplyDeleteIls sont réellement des merveilles. La délicatesse et la forme de vos tournesols sont fantastiques.
gros bisous
Goodness Nancy. It seems I have a tendency towards contrariness. I like the latest one better! That dark background behind the sunflowers just make them explode from the screen. Truly beautiful. The border lends to the happiness of sunflowers!
ReplyDeleteMerci Martinealison
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry, you can be as contrary as you want although having a different opinion than me is certainly not contrary. : )
The border does make it seem like a party is going on, right?
Your silk paintings are gorgeous! I like the black back ground best.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carole. So far I'm outvoted and the black background is the favorite. : )
ReplyDeleteI love your silk paintings, but I also love your watercolors! Thank you for sharing them all with us!
ReplyDeleteThank you Theresa. I have a hard time deciding which is more fun.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for your kind and encouraging comments. Always a pleasure to see you.
ReplyDeleteYour sunflower painting is beautiful and I have to agree with the rest i am afraid. Black background works great and i love the blue border. As one other poster said, it looks like a party. It is a very happy painting. Not so sure i know what a silk painting is but they are sure lovely. I really liked your piano key one too. What a great idea Nancy. Wonderful work.
Thank you Ross.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting what a big difference little changes can make! I agree with others that the new one looks more happy with the confetti in the border. The older one looks more formal but I prefer the organic-y looking blue background to the solid black. I'd be hard pressed if I had to choose one!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to take the same main design and change it up so that it looks completely different.
