Here's another Lost Canyon abstract. This has some interesting textures that aren't really showing up in this photo. I love what watercolor pigments do on wet paper. You can't get that with any other medium.

I could see some of the textures in the larger version. Although I can get funky textures with salt on my silk dyes, I wish I could get the granular textures some watercolors deposit on paper. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI also love the effects of working wet with watercolor, (one of my favorite tools for that is my spray bottle!). The earth tones are a nice contrast against the blue sky.
ReplyDeleteThis abstract painting is beautifully done, Nancy. Love the colors!!
ReplyDeleteNice point of view in this one, Nancy. It is like you are the bottom looking up and seeing all the various colors of the strata!
ReplyDeleteHi Deborah, I love the textures you can get with the silk dyes using salt and alcohol but you're right, only watercolor gives that wonderful sedimentary texture.
ReplyDeleteHi Robin, I love my spray bottle too. I've found that if I give a wash a really light mist while it's drying it gives an effect similar to salt but not so contrived looking.
Thanks Hilda.
Oh Sherry, I like your description.
Very nice - and interesting effects of watercolor!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and viewing my Venice paintings. I was there for 2 months so I got a lot done.
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful, especially your florals which are just lovely! I am going to add you to my links so I can come back and visit again easily.
Thanks Art Collector's Corner.
