Barbados Stairway II

poured watercolor
This is the last of the three poured paintings I started last week. I've painted this photo before several years ago using oil. That one was done on a long, skinny canvas which really enhanced the sense of climbing but I wanted to do this one in a more traditional format.
Here is a picture of the first one I did:
I love your treatment of the steps! I liked the original one too, but this painting seems to have more life
ReplyDeleteI think that "life" comes from the poured pigments. They give a painting a special glow.
DeleteI loved this when you painted it the first time and I love it now. I think I like the bluish tones in the bricks on the new piece especially...It lends an air of ethereal to the piece, which is a sense I get anyway from the stairs going up to a doorway with no walls or roof around it...as if it is a remnant of a long gone castle or something!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry. I also like the door in the middle of nowhere.
ReplyDeleteThe pouring really gave that painting a new life. Too me it is way more exciting. Love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Wendy. I like the look of poured paintings.
DeleteWonderful work, Nancy. I love the dark greens by the steps... Excellent watercolor!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilda.
DeleteI like your handling of this pouring technique - it creates vibrancy so hoping to see more of it. I see you have tags on your pictures - where do you add those in and why?
ReplyDeleteThank you Nelvia. The tags are added for google to use in the search engines and you add them by clicking on the 'labels' button at the right of the screen when you are doing your post.
